Sabato 10 novembre si inaugura presso la galleria
Totem-Il Canale la mostra personale di Bruno Lucca dal titolo Doppio Gioco.
Bruno Lucca torna alla galleria Totem di Venezia con una selezione di disegni e
di quadri recenti, elaborati
con la consueta tecnica dell'olio steso puro sulla tela e sulla carta, una
tecnica semplice ma per
la quale sono necessari gesti sapienti, fermezza e pazienza; propone inoltre una
scelta di disegni –
pastello e matita grassa su carta per lo più – nei quali il consueto
repertorio dell'artista è declinato in animate grafie, in guizzi che paiono
barocchi se paragonati alla ferma classicità dei dipinti; un vibrare di segni
che trova nella storia secolare dell'arte veneziana luminosi precedenti e
sorprendenti riverberi.
Lucca dipinge silenziose figure umane, colte immobili dallo sguardo; con
un'unica stesura di pigmento le riduce a nitide silhouette isolate su di un
fondo lasciato sgombro, astratto; sono figure semplici, declinate
con discrezione e fermezza eppure stratificate di senso e di storia. Ma,
diversamente dalle mostre precedenti, i soggetti protagonisti raddoppiano
a Daniele Monarca: la campitura del quadro è
occupata ora da coppie di figure che instaurano, incrociando forse lo sguardo,
un silenzioso duetto. Lucca cerca in questi nuovi lavori una diversa pro
"Doppio Gioco" (Double Play) the one-man show of new works by Bruno Lucca will open at the Totem-Il-Canale Gallery on saturday 10th of November.
Bruno Lucca is back with a selection of recent drawings and paintings done with his usual technique of pure oil on canvas or paper, a simple technique, but it requires patience, a firm hand and skilful mouvements; furthermore he is proposing a choice of drawings, mainly pastels and crayons on paper, in which the usual style of the artist becomes animated with lines, almost baroque if compared to his still classic paintings; vibrations of signs recalling bright and surprising precedents in the Venetian history of Art.
Lucca paints silent human figures, caught immobile by
the viewer; they are neat silhouettes isolated on an empty, abstract background,
simple figures done firmly and discretely and yet layered with sense and history.
Differently from previous exhibitions, this figures are double: the paintings
depict couples that, exchanging looks, are having a silent duet.
Lucca is searching for a different depth in these new works and, in spite of the
joyous title, achieves an amplification of that sense of suspended apprehension
that always emanates from his paintings.
Bruno Lucca is a coherent and balanced artist that has managed to evolve his
work through the years pushing with the necessary slowness his own view just a
bit further than the point achieved; this exhibition is the indispensable new
step of an already important history and yet promises new discoveries.
